10 ESSENTIALS: 04 – Number of Laser Diodes

What Is Producing the Light?

Wavelength and total power receive a lot of attention when comparing lasers. But another specification is equally worth understanding:

How many actual laser diodes are producing that light?

A laser diode is the light source inside the system. Each produces laser light at a specified wavelength and power.

More diodes alone do not automatically make a better laser. What matters is which wavelengths those diodes produce, how much power they deliver, and how they are configured within the complete system.

Why Configuration Matters

The diode configuration tells you more than a total power number alone. In the Blue Honest PRO VX laser system, 1,000 mW of the total output comes from four 808 nm near-infrared diodes, while the remaining 11 laser diodes provide the 5 visible wavelengths.

This matters because wavelength and power describe different aspects of the system. Wavelength influences how light interacts with tissue and chromophores. Power influences how much energy can be delivered over time. Diode configuration shows how those specifications are physically brought together inside the device.

So “How powerful is it?” is only part of the question.

We should ask how many true laser diodes are producing that power, and which wavelengths are they actually producing.

Designed as a Complete System

The Blue Honest PRO VX diode configuration brings visible and near-infrared laser light together within one device rather than relying on a single wavelength or high-powered light source. The laser’s 15 diodes form the physical foundation of the 6-wavelength spectrum and determine how the PRO VX's 1,110 mW total output is distributed.

The number of diodes matters. What those diodes are designed to do together matters even more.
